Review of Pretties
Before I even begin reviewing, let me first say that I was vehemently opposed to Tally becoming "pretty." The very idea of it had me spinning. It is wrong, I thought. It is "bogus." By the way, I think if I ever hear the words bogus, bubbly, or pretty again, I may just have to scream.
Although the repetitive dialogue of the tiredly similar pretties aggravated me, I still lost myself in the many pages of Westerfeld's book. So, despite their total inability to use adjectives other than those three, I quite enjoyed the personality of the 2-dimensional pretties. The book brought in new characters and new drama. And gosh darn it, Westerfeld made me feel comfortable with Tally's new Hunny, and then he ruins it all by making Tally a Special at the end of the book, another thing I definitely do not want her to be. Bummer. I liked it anyway though.
Scott Westerfeld has this uncanny ability to drag along a fan base. My goodness, I mean is it completely necessary for him to finish every book open ended? Darn stupid authors and their dang hook-ending tendencies. But, who am I kidding? You gotta love 'em. Mostly, I am just unsure as to whether I can handle another emotional roller-coaster. Book three, here I come.
