Review of Hero-Type
Realistic. The one thing I truly admire in Hero-Type is how real Kevin is. He isn’t the greatest looking kid at school. He isn’t the smartest or the fastest or the nicest. Honestly, he screws stuff up all the time. And that is real. What fascinates me is that when he messes up, stuff stays messed up-- there isn’t some twist of fate that makes everything okay. Even the title is real. In my opinion, nobody is completely a hero or completely a villain. We are all somewhere in between. We are types.
To sum up my ranting, the characters are real and honest. Not honest as in they spout the truth all the time; honest as in they present themselves as flawed, and don’t pretend they are anything but that. They are the Council of Fools, and that is how they live. I can’t think of a bad thing to say about the book to balance out the good, but whatever. I liked it and I hope you do also. It is a Real Read.
