Review of Dead is the New Black

As a former cheerleader and life-long vampire fan, this book was right up my alley. It was several things: funny, romantic, gross, fast-paced, ironic. Plus, it’s vampires, what’s not to love? Even if you are not a vampire fan, this book is great. Besides, Perez’s vampires are not all billowing black cloaks and glistening fangs. Try vain fashion victims. The book could have been a little blacker (or rather deader), for it was the teensiest bit too frilly for a vampire book in my opinion, but that is what makes it different-- the vampires are bright (well, sort of). Anyway, if you have a couple hours to spare from your dangerously important occupation of couch-potato, then look for Dead Is the New Black in stores.
