Demigods and Monsters
If any of you are familiar with the Percy Jackson books by Rick Riordan, this is something that you're going to want to check out. This is anthology on the subject of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, with essays written by other young adult authors who are familiar with the fantasy genre. My favorite essay, by Ellen Steiber, paints Dionysus (a.k.a. Mr. D) as of demigod who has had a pretty rough life and suggests that maybe the kids at Camp Half-Blood have judged him a bit too quickly. Equally as interesting is Elizabeth Wein's essay on the subject of disability in the Percy Jackson series. Though not as comical as some of the essays in this anthology, she succeeds in making it a subject that relates to the audience. If you're thirsting for some more Percy Jackson action while waiting for Rick Riordan's next installment, Demigods and Monsters is a perfect way to quench it.

Who knew I liked non-fiction?
When I think of the word "non-fiction," I usually think boring. But this book was great! Maybe because it was about one of my favorite book series (how could anything about Percy Jackson be boring?), or maybe because the authors have such funny, new things to say about the characters and their world (they talk about why so many monsters go into retail, how to spot monsters, why being one of Artemis's Hunters might not be as much fun as it looks at first, and which god makes the best parent). If you like Percy Jackson, you should definitely read this book!
